The Three Blind Mice nursery rhyme dates back to the ruling days of Queen Mary the first. She, the 'farmer's wife', had a large estate in which three protestant noblemen resided. While she didn't chase after them with a carving knife, she did have them burned at the stake because it was believe that they were plotting against the Queen.
